Printed Shawls of Paisley Design 1800-1870

A shawl was the essential fashion accessory for nearly 100 years. Hand block printed in Britain. The finest silk gauze examples were worn by middle class ladies for evening wear whilst most of wool, silk or cotton mixture were worn by lower middle and working women.
